- Protective finish resists stains, rings, marks, and spotting, scratches and abrasions, and heat damage. Chatham recommends cleaning with a damp cloth and mild detergent, wiped dry with a soft cloth. Should a polish be desired, furniture polish containing no waxes or silicones is recommended
