MFI carefully selects all the material used in each product, ensuring consistency, quality and a premium finish. A comprehensive Quality Assurance program is in place at the factory whose primary objective is to make certain that their products meet all the high standards set for their furniture.
Their beds are constructed of 100% kiln dried hardwood. This ensures strength and longevity. The tropical hardwoods used in the beds are indigenous to Indonesia. Tropical mahogany has a tight grain and is similar to American Cherry, varying in reds and browns in its natural state and is used in the majority of their products. Mindi is similar to American Oak and is used in the Santa Barbara and Nevis Collections. More on Modus Furniture International...

Comments about Modus Furniture International Newport Five Drawer Chest in Cordovan:
We bought the entire Newport bedroom set, and this is the piece I am the least happy with. While it is very pretty and functional, the drawers only open about half way, and after owning it for a year, I still can't figure out how to actually remove the drawer. (The cat decided to hop in a drawer and got stuck behind it.) I am fairly inept as far as furniture goes so maybe someone else could figure out how the drawer mechanism works, other than this flaw we are very happy with this dresser.

Comments about Modus Furniture International Newport Five Drawer Chest in Cordovan:
I really liked the looks of the chest online, and the real thing did not disappoint. The knobs and finish are first-rate, and the actual wood seems high quality.
I am disappointed a bit with the drawer capacity. A few inches of of space is taken up on each side with just the style.
The worst part, though, is the "Euroglide" drawer rails. If you push in the drawer anywhere but on the right side, it bends alarmingly to the right. I looked closer and found that the wheels on the right side are kept on the track by the rail being folded over a bit. However, on the LEFT side it is just a flat piece of metal and the wheels are free to leave the track. They do, making it seem like the right side is "sticking". Very disconcerting.
