In 1905, Cochrane Furniture had its beginning when John Cochrane saw
the need and potential of a wood products manufacturing plant which could
produce showcases and mantels. Since the fireplace was an overwhelming
necessity for homes built throughout the country, John Cochrane felt that
every home should have a decorative and unusual mantel. The business
was successful and mantels were sold by the carload. In 1928, the company
was incorporated as Cochrane Furniture Company Incorporated, the name
it bears today.
In the early 1930’s, under the operation of John Cochrane’s four sons, the company produced oak and pine dining room tables and chairs as their leading products. As sales increased, the company began adding to the line by producing china cabinets, servers and dry sinks to complete the dining room. Early American Furniture became popular and Cochrane began using hard maples as the primary lumber, prompting the addition of a maple leaf to the logo.
In 1987, Cochrane Furniture saw a need for yet another addition to complete the home and began producing living room furniture. The addition paved the way for another successful offering in the line. Cochrane Upholstery now produces quality living room products with a myriad of styles including traditional, country, casual, transitional and contemporary.
Through the years Cochrane Furniture has met the needs and challenges of producing furniture to complete the home and now offers a much more diversified line. The quality products that Cochrane produces today include bedroom, dining and living room furniture using a variety of lumbers including maples and oaks and having an assortment of styles to choose.
